Since the original invitation was sent on Monday, the focus of the Lights for Liberty vigil has shifted to center on impacted communities and frontline organizers. The lineup of speakers has changed, as has the organizing team, and we are not entirely certain who will be speaking or their message. What we do know is that this remains an opportunity to sit with the pain and reality of our asylum seeking neighbors. We do know there will be much to learn and reflect upon as we continue to build ways to bring healing and justice to our world. And, we have re-confirmed that there will be a Dallas Police Department presence.
We will still be going, as are other congregants. However, it is important for you to make your own choice. If at any point during the event you feel it is best to leave, please trust yourself and do so.
Box dinners will still be made available after services.
With heart and hope,
Rabbi Herzog Cohen and Bob Krakow, VP Social Justice
