Temple Emanu-El is experiencing a once-in-a-generation congregational transition, with the upcoming retirements of our beloved senior clergy: Rabbi David Stern on June 30, 2027; and Rabbi Debra Robbins on June 30, 2028.
We are excited about the challenges and opportunities ahead to build upon our remarkable 154-year tradition of vibrant Jewish living and leadership. We are also coming together as a community, in joy and celebration, to honor our retiring rabbis over the next 18 months.
Senior Rabbi Search
Temple is searching for the right leader to become our next senior rabbi, through a rigorous, fair and transparent process. Temple is now reviewing applications and conducting interviews with candidates. The placement submission that we filed with the Central Conference of American Rabbis was created with the help of the entire congregation, with information gathered in the Sharing Our Strengths listening campaign held this past winter. We have every confidence that our strong congregation will attract outstanding candidates. And if we don’t find right person this year, we are prepared to hire an interim rabbi to serve while the search continues.
