Fear and Courage on the Front Lines of Civil Rights

In 1967, Temple member Beverly Bonnheim was 17 when the Ku Klux Klan bombed her synagogue, Beth Israel of Jackson, Mississippi. The same synagogue, which also houses the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life, was recently damaged by arson.

Beverly and Rabbi Kimberly Herzog Cohen will lead this class in which participants will explore the role of Jewish leaders in the civil rights movement, as well as the terrifying events of that night in 1967.
