2021 Rabbi Levi A. Olan Lecture Series Presents Rev. Jennifer Butler

Oct 14, 2021 / 8 Heshvan, 5782

We are honored to have welcomed Rev. Jennifer Butler as our guest during the Rabbi Levi A. Olan lecture series event on October 12. This lecture and round-table discussion explored the misuse of the Bible for oppression and political gain, both in our modern times and historically, and how we have to reclaim the Bible’s text to rectify the wrongs of the past. Rev. Butler shared stories of oppression, tyranny, inspiration, hope and offers beautiful moments of true faith found through social justice. Thank you to our partner, Faith Commons, and to Pastor George Mason, Senior Pastor Wilshire Baptist Church, Rabbi David Stern and our Adult Learning leadership for this special evening.

In the tradition of Rabbi Levi A. Olan of blessed memory, the event that bears his name engages the congregation and the community in intellectual, moral and theological dialogue. We are pleased to be partnering with Faith Commons of Dallas, which promotes public discourse rooted in common values of multiple faiths.

In Gratitude: The Olan Lecture Series is made possible by an endowment gift from Hannah Hochman in memory of Yetta Hochman.
