Join us for Shabbat Evening Services featuring the Rabbi David Lefkowitz Memorial Lecture. We are honored to welcome back Dr. Mark Chancey, Professor of Religious Studies at SMU and a nationally recognized expert on religion in public schools, for his fifth presentation at Temple Emanu-El.
Dr. Chancey’s keynote address, delivered during the service, will explore the issues and controversies surrounding religion in Texas classrooms today. From the Bluebonnet curriculum to proposed displays of the Ten Commandments, prayer, and Bible reading in schools, he will offer insight into the legal questions, challenges and strategies for navigating this new reality.
