Temple will be transformed in a weekend of light, sound and technology. Temple has collaborated with AURORA, a Dallas public arts organization at the intersection of art, technology and community, for an exclusive art event that will showcase new media art forms while celebrating our history. Start your experience at Shabbat on March 24, with a special oneg to meet the artists and a sneak preview. Then on Saturday, March 25, spend the evening in this family-friendly festival event with food and beverages provided, and plenty of wow factor for all. Here’s what you’ll experience:
Installations: Art projections on the exterior walls of Temple’s worship spaces
Olan Sanctuary: “In Their Arms We Hold the Sky,” by David Stout
A panoramic video mural that creates layered images which are then translated into a visual story of creation.
Stern Chapel: “Circular Time: seed & harvest” by Mirta Kupferminc
A video montage that highlights the past, present and future, with trees as a metaphor
Lefkowitz Chapel: “Rest,” by Taylor Cleveland, Danielle Georgiou and Justin Locklear
This collaborative work includes live performances by dancers, a light projection and animations, all with light as a metaphor for Temple’s continuing role in civic engagement.
Activations: Site-specific works of art to experience the outdoor spaces of Temple Emanu-El in completely new ways
“Valley of the Giants,” by Mari Hidalgo King, interactive fabric sculptures of movement and imagery
“Kaleidoscopes of Light, Habitat of Reflections,” by Bernardo Vallarino, an expression of a butterfly habitat with a human connection
“You Are Magic,” by Alicia Eggert, inflatable sculpture activated by handprint sensors
Plus, complimentary food truck meals and beverages available for purchase.
