Set the table for an evening of Persian flavors, shared stories and meaningful connection. As we prepare for Purim, Cantor in the Kitch invites you to a Persian feast weaving together food, song and conversation to explore the traditions of Persian Jewry.
Through an introduction to classic Persian ingredients, dishes and flavor profiles—and the stories they carry—we’ll reflect on history, memory and the enduring power of culture passed from generation to generation. This special evening, led by Cantor Leslie Niren, includes a live cooking demonstration and a seated tasting of traditional Persian dishes.
We are delighted to welcome two special guests:
• Galeet Dardashti Ph.D., a scholar, musician and anthropologist of Middle Eastern Jewish culture, who will share the history of Iran and Persian Jewry.
• Shiva Beck, an attorney and Iranian-born member of the Dallas Jewish community, who will share her personal story and speak to the central role food plays in Persian culture and family life.
