Cantor Margo Wagner

Margo Wagner (she/her) became ordained as a cantor from the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music of Hebrew Union College (HUC) in May of 2026 where she also earned her Master’s of Sacred Music in 2025. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Jewish Sacred Music and a minor in Hebrew from Indiana University.

Before cantorial school, Cantor Wagner worked as an Education Fellow for the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL) in Jackson, Mississippi.

Cantor Wagner grew up in Aspen, Colorado, where she cultivated her love for music, skiing and participating in Shabbat services at Aspen Jewish Congregation. She attended Jewish camps and eventually became a song leader at both Camp Shwayder in Colorado and Greene Family Camp in Texas.

The newest member of Temple’s clergy team, Cantor Wagner, had a career at HUC filled with rich learning and experiences, including an intensive unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta; a student cantor role at West End Temple in Neponsit, New York; and a b’nai mitzvah tutor at Central Synagogue in New York. During her time at HUC, Cantor Wagner received several awards, including the Compassionate Cantor Prize, the Alumni Association Prize, the Temple Israel Boston Prize for Worthy Student, and the Cantor Edward R. Fogel Prize in Vocal Development/Progress.

In Margo’s spare time, she enjoys skiing, playing card games, tennis, and spending quality time with friends and family. She is looking forward to creating connections with her future congregants through her music and her love of Jewish prayer.
