Youth Learning + Engagement

Our Partners

Temple Emanu-El YL+E recognizes that we need many partners in order to develop strong, relational, educated, and ethical Jewish leaders of the future. We leverage those partnerships to bring various and unique programs to our participants and their families - summer camp; social justice experiences; teen travel opportunities; and more!

URJ Greene Family Camp brings the excitement of immersive Jewish experiences to kids, teens and adults across North America and beyond, strengthening their Jewish identity and instilling Reform Jewish values in the next generation. Temple Emanu-El regularly sends between 80-100 kids per summer to GFC! Please visit greene.org for more information!

URJ’s new 6 Points specialty camps foster specific skills and interests while still offering that summer magic our regional camps have provided for more than 60 years. Every URJ camp transforms lives and cultivates lifelong friendships – inspired by the traditions and values of living Reform Judaism. URJ 6 Points camps include 6 Points Sci-Tech, 6 Points Creative Arts Academy, and 6 Points Sports Academy. More informantion can be found at urjyouth.org/6points/.

For more than 50 years, the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (or "the RAC") has been the hub of Jewish social justice and legislative activity in Washington, D.C. As the DC office of the Union for Reform Judaism, the RAC educates and mobilizes the Reform Jewish community on legislative and social concerns, advocating on more than 70 different issues, including economic justice, civil rights, religious liberty, Israel and more. Annually, the Temple Emanu-El YL+E Confirmation Class (10th Grade) participates in the RAC L'Taken Social Justice Seminars. Teens are exposed to a variety of public policy issues and explore the Jewish values that inform the Reform Movement’s advocacy around these issues. Teens then meet with US Senators and Representatives to present prepared policy speeches on the issues. Please visit rac.org for more information!

NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth) is a movement that builds strong, welcoming, inspired communities through teen-powered engagement. NFTY values tikkun olam, personal growth, youth empowerment, and deep connections, all rooted in Reform Judaism. Temple Emanu-El's NFTY youth group, DAFTY, provides the NFTY experience to our 8th-12th grade participants. DAFTY also participates in regional activities with NFTY Texas-Oklahoma (TOR), allowing teens to interact with other teens from across the region through trips, retreats, camp experiences, and more! Please visit nfty.org for more information!

NFTY in Israel offers a variety of exciting and challenging summer teen tours to Israel, all of which expose teens to the magical wonders of Israel while also building relationships between teens that will last beyond the trip!

NFTY in Israel is the adventure of a lifetime! Visit NFTYIsrael.org for more information!

URJ Heller High is a meaningful academic program designed especially for highly motivated teens looking for deeper insight into Israel, Jewish Identity and themselves. Heller High is based on Kibbutz Tzuba, nestled in the Judean Hills, approximately fifteen minutes outside of Jerusalem, where the students live in dorm style housing. While at Heller High, our students become immersed in the study of the history, culture and Land of Israel.
