Give Back this Summer with one of our many service project partners
This summer, we have various activities going on with our Temple service project partners. Grab your family, friends, or a group at Temple to get involved in our community and help those in need.

Family Gateway
Family Gateway provides stability and support to families experiencing homelessness. Temple Emanu-El will be hosting a snack drive for Family Gateway on Tuesday, July 13 from 8-10 a.m. at the Temple main entry ramp, and during Cinema Emanu-El at 7 p.m. Please bring individually wrapped juice boxes, granola bars, chips, etc. to give to the students involved in their summer program.

Here are other ways to help Family Gateway, as well.

VNA Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels delivers food to seniors in the community that face the threat of hunger. Volunteers can be assigned routes on a schedule once per week, once per month or even as needed. They are happy to tailor the opportunity to the volunteers scheduling request. There is also Meals on Wheels pet food delivery options. Kids are welcome to volunteer, as well. Literacy Achieves
Literacy Achieves’ goal is to equip adults and children with English literacy and life skills to promote self-sufficiency. They are collecting children’s books for the Race to 500,000 Books Campaign with Race to Kindness. They will be hosting the drive on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 6329 Ridgecrest Rd.

You can also volunteer to be an in-person or virtual ESL tutor this fall. Registration and orientations will be offered throughout the summer with classes officially beginning Monday, September 3rd. If you are a new volunteer, sign-up to tutor here. Returning volunteers should contact LaTress Peoples.

The Bridge Homeless & Recovery Center
The Bridge is an organization that provides opportunities and food to families and individuals experiencing homelessness. There are various volunteer opportunities that can be found here. The opportunities vary from serving a meal to donating uniforms or setting up bags for visitors.

North Dallas Shared Ministries
North Dallas Shared Ministries provide charitable donations to those in need. We will be collecting non-perishable food items to help feed our neighbors during the High Holy Days. Items requested include canned meats, canned fruits, and vegetables, canned and dried soup, rice and pasta. Drop off your items at Temple at the truck from North Dallas Shared Ministries on Sept. 6-8 and Sept. 15-17. If you would like to volunteer to help empty the truck at North Dallas Shared Ministries, please reach out to Erica Strauss. You can also donate to the High Holy Day Relief Fund online by clicking here.
