Temple Emanu-El Young Adults will be cookin' up a storm to lend a helping hand! We've joined forces with Caring Congregation to support their outreach network that makes a difference in the lives of so many of our fellow congregants. On Sunday, March 14th, 11 am- 2 pm in Tobian Kitchen, help us prepare meals and get-well cards for those on the road to recovery—these meals will be delivered to those recovering from illness.

Brunch & Mimosas will be served.

Why do Jews and Christians have different versions of the Ten Commandments? When did “Israel” start being the name of a place and not a person? Why is Leviticus so different from Genesis? How old is the Bible really, and who gets credit for writing it? This 90-minute session is a perfect re-introduction to the basics of the Hebrew Bible. No matter how much you know (or don’t know!) about the Jewish Bible, bring your questions and your curiosity and be prepared to learn!hrule This is the trip your friend went on that changed her life - and the life of a community in a developing nation. This is your chance to join the American Jewish World Service and our Temple Emanu-El Young Adults community on a trip that will leave you inspired, exhausted, and wanting more. In December 2010, Rabbi Knight will be leading us on an unforgettable Tikkun Olam adventure. AJWS sponsors communities in developing nations. Our contribution and work will be a part of a lasting and sustainable change for a community that is working to participate in the global economy. To be not only a witness to but a participant in that process is going to be an unforgettable experience.

For details, join us on Wednesday, Feb. 17th or Wednesday, March 17th at 7:30 p.m. for drinks and the 411 at 1910 Hope Way in Dallas.

We, the Temple Emanu–El Caring Congregation Volunteers, need you to know we are here for you, your friends, your family.
Here for you, like family, to extend a hand when the world is upside down in these very pressing times. We need to know that your sister is depressed and an embrace could be a bright light. We need to know your uncle is in the hospital, again, and a visit would bring a smile. We want to know and want you to feel comfortable letting us know.

We, the Caring Congregation Volunteers, are here for you, with complete confidentiality, and encourage you to call upon your Temple family. We depend on you to inform us. We do not receive information from hospitals, doctors or other avenues.

SHARE THE CARE by calling or emailing Peggy Papert, Director of Caring Congregation, at 214.706.0012. You may also connect by calling Temple’s main number, 214.706.0000. Either way, you may speak or leave a message with or without your name.

hrule The Sanctuary will ring out in song as our prayers will be lifted by the music of our own José Bowen, Dean of the Meadows School of the Arts, and Algur H. Meadows Chair and Professor of Music, at Southern Methodist University. Rabbi Stern, Cantor Cohn and Dr. Bowen have planned a service that will not only resound with inspiring music, but will also be infused with the jazz of language, improvised around the traditional prayers.

The congregation will be able to sing many of the refrains, and it will be a Shabbat evening of great energy and joy.

The musical portion of the “Jazz Service” at Temple is made possible by the Pollman Performing Arts Program of Music Around Emanu-El.
