xmasmitzvah

Looking for something to do on Christmas Day? Join Temple Emanu-El Young Adults as we do a mitzvah by relieving volunteers at CASA Shelter so they can be with their families on Christmas. This program is part of Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood’s Christmas Day Mitzvah event.

Dallas CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in protective care, to help them find safe, permanent homes.

On Christmas Eve (December 24), we will be wrapping Christmas gifts for children in need. On December 25, we will be cooking breakfast for the CASA residents & taking them to the movies in the afternoon.

Click Here to RSVP by December 18th. Space is Limited.

Explore the way in which our understanding of the Holocaust has changed over the years, in large part due to the way it has been depicted in films, television shows, and literature. One historian has written that although the Holocaust was perpetrated in Germany and the largest killing centers were in Poland, it is Israel and the United States that have “been much more instrumental in creating the myth of the Holocaust.” Using film and other media, Elliot Dlin, Executive Director of the Dallas Holocaust Museum/Center for Education and Tolerance will explore these developments. This Study session is part of the Temple Emanu-El course funded by the Katherine F. Baum Adult Education Fund.

Click here to RSVP by January 8, 2010.
