Chavurah Groups for Young Adults
Ages 21-39 | Sponsored by Temple Emanu-El
Do you want to become better acquainted with other Reform Jews in Dallas who have similar interests? Do you want to become more involved in Temple and the community? Do you want to share life cycle events and holidays with other young adults (singles, couples and/or families)?
CONSIDER JOINING A CHAVURAH GROUP
AT TEMPLE EMANU-EL
What is a chavurah? A group of 8-12 adults who get together on a regular basis
in the home of a member or at Temple to study, socialize, and celebrate Jewish life. Chavurah members make a commitment to meet once each month.
What do chavurah groups do together? Each chavurah will set its own agenda.
Some may enjoy Shabbat dinner, have a holiday party, build a sukkah, conduct a
havdalah service, go camping, go to dinner, read a book…Rabbis and other professionals may be invited to chavurah meetings.
Why join a chavurah? Getting to know others in a large congregation can be
intimidating for some. A chavurah is an excellent way to become acquainted with
others who have similar interests.
Who is eligible to join? This program is designed for young adults with and without children. Some groups will involve children, while others will not. For a
couple, one partner must be under the age of forty.
How are groups formed? Each individual or couple must complete an application.
When the application is returned, you will be matched with others who have similar interests, backgrounds and requests. We will be matching groups in late October. Please return the application by October 27, 2006. There will be an all chavurah kickoff event on December 2, 2006.
