Shabbat at Temple Emanu-El “More than Israel has kept the Sabbath, the Sabbath has kept Israel.” – Ahad HaAm Shabbat is the way Jews arrange their lives to stay in touch with what is perfect in the world on a regular basis. It is our taste of the world to come. Our congregation focuses on Shabbat worship that is warm, engaging and participatory, with music, readings and meditative opportunities geared towards creating a sense of both personal introspection and communal energy. Learning is an important element in congregational worship, usually manifest in sermons, divrei Torah or text discussions. Our Shabbat worship includes a weekly 6:15 PM service on Friday evenings, a monthly 8:15 PM service on Friday evenings (from October to May), a 10:30 service each Shabbat morning, as well as morning and afternoon Bar and Bat Mitzvah services. |
