The Crisis in Darfur

Darfur Picture One

Dolls for Darfur, a grass-roots social justice effort, initiated by Temple Emanu-El member Julie Silverman and under the auspices of the Social Justice Advocacy committee of Temple Emanu-El is underway nationwide to urge members of Congress and President George Bush to approve legislation that would help bring an end to genocide in Darfur, Sudan.

As a Temple Emanu-El member you can help by filling out a post card to send to your elected representatives and the President urging support of the bills currently before the House and Senate. Post cards are available, with instructions, on the Dolls for Darfur table in the foyer of the Olan Sanctuary and may be completed following worship services. Additionally individuals or groups within Temple can volunteer to put together packets, make pins out of the Darfur Dolls or purhase a pin at the Gift Shop to wear in an effort to raise awareness of the situation in Darfur.

For more information or to volunteer, please contact Jean Kazez at jkazez@smu.edu or go to www.dollsfordarfur.org.
