It’s All About Torah

Sunday mornings from 10:30-12:00 on October 8, November 5 and 19, December 3 and 10, January 7.

It’s All About Torah I begins October 8—register now and get your book ordered! This fall we will launch a three course adult learning opportunity focusing on Torah. Each six session course will be taught by Rabbi Debra Robbins and will be an opportunity for adults to learn together on Sunday mornings from 10:30-12:00.

Take one, take two, or plan to take all three. It’s All About Torah I begins October 8 and will explore the origins and development of Torah, why it should be studied, how to do it, and the power of Torah to create community, using Norman J. Cohen’s book, The Way Into Torah.

There is a $20 fee to cover the costs of the texbook and materials and advance registration is greatly appreciated for planning purposes. Register by contacting Rabbi Robbin’s Office at 217.706.0017.

It’s All About Torah II in the Spring of 2007 will focus on the drama and structure of the Torah service. Using My People’s Prayer Book, Volume 4 edited by Rabbi Lawrence Hoffman we will explore how Reform Jews publically read and celebrate Torah as the centerpiece of our Shabbat morning prayer experience.

It’s All About Torah III in the Fall of 2007 will focus on how we use commentaries from across the generations to understand Torah. We will also explore how to add our own voices and write a D’var Torah, a Torah interpretation.
