Four Favorites
Your Clergy often use these books when we teach about prayer and they are all available in the Weisberg Library.

My People’s Prayer Book Series edited by Rabbi Lawrence Hoffman. This series offers historical, mystical, theological, feminist and traditional interpretations of the many sections of the Shabbat service and specific prayers.

B’chol L’vavcha by Harvey J. Fields. Written originally as a text book for students becoming bar/bat mitzvah, this commentary on the Reform prayer book is accessible and relevant for teenagers and adults, and offers questions for reflection related to each prayer.

Entering Jewish Prayer by Reuven Hammer. This easy to read book offers a brief history of prayer in Jewish life and of each of our prayers as well as some practical considerations of the meaning of various prayers.

The Way Into Jewish Prayer by Lawrence Hoffman. This book is part of our Stepping Stones to Jewish Life class (introduction to Judaism) and is a great way to explore some of the how to pray, why we pray and where we pray issues.
