Rabbi Sheila Peltz Weinberg on ‘The Path to Forgiveness’

The Elul period culminates this year with scholar-in-residence Rabbi Sheila Peltz Weinberg, who will guide us as we begin the internal work of the High Holy Days. Rabbi Weinberg is the Director of Outreach and Community Development at the Institute for Jewish Spirituality (www.ijs-online.org), and is committed to helping Jews deepen their spiritual lives and make the connection between the inner work of spiritual growth and the outer work of creating more justice and compassion in the world. The Institute promotes the ideas that “spirituality involves nurturing the human capacity to develop one’s personal understanding of God; to seek out truth and purpose; to discover meaning in personal and communal prayer; to develop a relationship with one’s deepest and most authentic self and with others; to find strength and hope and maintain balance in the face of challenges; and to experience deeper joy at times of simcha.”

Rabbi Peltz Weinberg has written that contemplative practice can have a powerful impact, making a difference in “how we live our lives, how we relate to ourselves and others, how free we become to embody the values and ideals we embrace in our minds, how we deal with temptations of all sorts.”

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to delve into these ideas as we study with Rabbi Peltz Weinberg during the weekend.

Rabbi Peltz Weinberg is a scholar for the Dolores and Walter Neustadt Lecture Series. We are grateful to the Neustadts for establishing this Temple Fund.
