Preparing for the High Holy Days

As we prepare for the High Holy Days, we are each afforded the opportunity to pass through the opened gates of learning, social justice and prayer as the New Year begins. The month of Elul is a time of repentance in preparation for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. This mood of repentance builds through the month of Elul to the evening of S'lichot (the Saturday night before Rosh Hashanah), to Rosh Hashanah, and finally to Yom Kippur.

The tone of the season shifts to joy and gratitude as we enter the month of Tishrei and anticipate the holidays of Sukkot and Simchat Torah.

During this season, we invite you to join us at Temple Emanu-El for worship, study and acts of loving kindness. From the Elul Sermon Series, to the S'lichot workshop and service, to Yom Kippur mitzvah and study opportunities for all ages, through our congregational celebrations in the Sukkah and with the Torah, Temple Emanu-El offers a variety of ways for our community to prepare with heart and mind for the New Year.
