Family Mitzvah Corps offering two great opportunities

Start the new year of 5770 with a mitzvah! After several years of success, the Family Mitzvah Corp is going strong! The Family Mitzvah Corps is offering two great social justice opportunities beginning at noon in Linz Hall. Both events are free. Please RSVP by September 8th Karen Howson with the RSVP form or call 214-706-0000. Free lunch will be served.

Family Dynamic Tzedakah Shopping (Grades K-5)
Sunday, September 20, 2009
Noon-2 p.m.

Students and their families will head off to a local supermarket to shop for food and household items for the hungry in our community as part of our High Holy Day Food Drive.

Youth Mitzvah Corps Cemetery Clean-Up (Grades 6-12)
Sunday, September 20, 2009
Noon-2 p.m.

Help us honor and pay tribute to the generations that have come before us as we clean the Temple Emanu-El Cemetery in preparation for the Kever Avot Service of Remembrance. We will carpool to the cemetery, so families are welcome to participate, but not required. Pick-up will be at the Temple Emanu-El Cemetery, not at Temple Emanu-El. This year, we will be participating in a Jewish ritual by holding a ceremony to bury Temple Emanu-El’s old prayerbooks and Torah scroll. This should be a very spiritual and educational experience for everyone involved.

On December 13th, Family Mitzvah Corps will be the Club 67 event. We will be working with the Texas Tree Foundation to plant trees, prune trees, and clean up freshly planted areas.

On June 6th, Families with Students in Kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to join us as we volunteer at Community Partners of Dallas. We will be sorting donations, creating “Back to School” packs, and supporting Child Protective Services.
