What We Do

Ushering: Ushering is the most visible work we perform, both for Friday night services and the High Holy Days.

Cooking: Brotherhood provides over 2,500 meals each month for community organizations such as Bryan’s House, CHAI House, Jonathan’s House, Girls, Inc., and the Vogel Alcove. We are also in the kitchen for Brotherhood Breakfasts, senior activities, Kadima! events, and other Temple functions.

Oneg Shabbat: Together with Sisterhood, we provide cookies and beverages to celebrate Shabbat following Friday night services.

Youth Programs: Brotherhood helps to support Temple youth programs at every level, assisting with operating expenses and travel expenses so that our young people can participate in regional and national programs.

Plant and Flower Sale: Each spring and fall we provide the congregation and the community an opportunity to buy bedding plants and help support the good works of Brotherhood. This is our main fund raising event.

Blood Drive: Each spring and fall, in coordination with our Flower Sale, Brotherhood conducts a blood drive collecting more than 150 units of blood each year.

Golden Acres: Once a month our members lead Friday night services at Golden Acres, the Jewish Home for the Aged.

Holiday Mitzvah Program: Coordinated by our Brotherhood, our members, congregants, and members of other congregations replace Christian hospital personnel on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so that they may spend this time with their families.

Lunch with the Rabbi: A monthly study session with Rabbi David Stern presenting a topic of Jewish interest on the fourth Monday of each month.

Monthly Board Meetings: All Brotherhood members are welcome to the monthly board meetings on the first Monday of each month.
