Just Congregations
Starting in October of 2007 we began training a core group of lay leaders in a new social justice model called "Just Congregations." Our goal is to engage our fellow members by conducing intentional relationship building campaigns. Through one-on-one meetings and meetings with small groups of members, the core group will collect information about the social justice issues that affect our congregants the most. As the group gains a clearer picture of these issues, it will begin to connect together congregants who are interested in working on those issues. In other words, our social justice agenda will be developed by the needs and cares of our congregants.

During this process we will begin exploring an organization called Dallas Area Interfaith (DAI). DAI is made up of over 50 local churches, mosques, and Zen-Buddhist temples. DAI is helping these other faith-groups conduct similar types of conversations in their own congregations. Our goal is to then work with people of different faiths on the issues that we and they are concerned about. This process promises to be amazing.
