From Generation to Generation
...a Tradition
of Caring
A cemetery is a caring history of people, a perpetual record of yesterday that exists because every life is worth living and remembering—always.
The Temple Emanu-El Cemetery and Mausoleum is the only Temple-owned and operated Reform Jewish Cemetery in Dallas. The Temple Emanu-El Cemetery was established in its present site on Howell Street at Lemmon Avenue (one block west of Central Expressway) in 1884. This quaint, tranquil congregational cemetery was the second Jewish cemetery in Dallas. Early Jewish settlers in Dallas formed the Hebrew Benevolent Society in 1872 to bury the dead. Members of this Society established the Temple Emanu-El Congregation in 1875.
Please contact Peggy Papert, Temple Emanu-El Cemetery Coordinator. She can provide information on space availability, pricing, tours of the Temple Cemetery and Mausoleum, Jewish traditions and pre-need planning.
